Just Breathe.

Just breath. It’s one of the simplest things. Most of the time we don’t even think about it! And yet, it is an incredibly powerful tool for reducing the stress hormone, cortisol. This week I am challenging myself to starting my day with deep breaths and I’m setting an alarm in my phone to chime every hour to remind me to breath deeply.

Steps:

  1. Inhale deeply. If your shoulders rise, that’s a shallow breathe. You want your stomach to expand.
  2. Hold breath for 5 seconds.
  3. Exhale.
  4. While taking deep breaths think about a person or place or activity that you love.
  5. Repeat 5-10 times.

⁣⁣Pro tip:If you want to take this challenge to the next level use an essential oil like lavender or bergamot to enhance those deep breaths! ⁣
